This year, Children, Inc. will be moving our annual Children’s Art Showcase to Notre Dame Academy in Park Hills, KY. We are excited for this expansion and change of venue that allows for more parking for parents and an easier traffic flow. The theme this year for art and performances is The Call of the Child. Students from Montessori Early Learning Academy, Treasure House Child Development Center and Imagine Tomorrow will be offering their class performances of song and dance in the Notre Dame Academy auditorium. While children’s art from all of our Preschool and Kindergarten programs will be showcased in the art showcase hall. This event is free and open to all parents, friends and family members of children in our programs.
We are also very excited to announce the addition of a fundraising dinner in conjunction with this year’s Children’s Art Showcase. This first annual Young @ Art event will allow attendees the opportunity to see Children, Inc.’s mission in action by touring the art showcase hall and seeing some of our classes perform. Dinner will include entree and dessert samples from local restaurants and a wine tasting. Attendees will also enjoy live music, a silent auction and art samplings from local artists. Funds raised from this event will support tuition assistance for low income families in Children, Inc. programs.
For more information and to register online, visit our Young @ Art Eventbrite page. Contact Jordan Huizenga at jhuizenga@childreninc.org if you have any questions.

Healthy children learn better. In an effort to ensure all Children, Inc. students are healthy, every year, around this time, nursing students from Thomas Moore College provide free health screens to students enrolled in Children, Inc.’s Preschool and Kindergarten programs. Thomas Moore students provide screens on body mass index, hearing and vision for children three and older.
This information is then used to set menus and ensure we are providing healthy foods as well as at least a combined hour of exercise each day. These healthy practices in our early childhood programs have had a positive effect on children for years. This year’s data are not yet in, but historically a high percentage of our children are in the acceptable range for BMI based on their height and weight. For those few children that don’t pass a screening, Children, Inc. provides the parents with information and encourages them to visit a pediatrician for further follow up and diagnosis.
We are very greatful for this partnership with Thomas Moore students that allows us to provide this free service for our families.
