Hello, I’m David Kisor, composer and performer of the songs found on Growing Sound and I LOVE my Job! I get to sing with children, infants through grade school age, every week, get updated on the latest brain research and early childhood development, write new songs and then, test them out with the children. I also travel around the country giving workshops and seminars on our research based music and how it positively affects children. But the cool thing is, when I’m singing with the kids, we’re just having fun. I try to make sure that each song is enjoyable to us adults as well.
More and more research is showing us that music builds the brain in ways that increase skills in many other areas, including math and literacy. But it’s the fun factor that we kids care about. That’s right, I’ve never really grown up, and probably never will. I truly write songs for my peers, the real three to six year olds and those of us who are still young inside. The children will often say to me, “Mr. David, you’re silly!” What they don’t know is at the time, we were singing and moving to a song that was carefully crafted to teach them some important aspect of confidence or belonging or self control. Early childhood is the time to have fun, but it’s also the time that certain pathways in the brain are being molded for life. Growing Sound is both fun and purposeful. So, let’s sing and play together! Welcome to my world. I LOVE MY JOB!!
